Oh my dear sweet friends, how I wish all of you could have been there for this event. It was beyond amazing and if I could describe it in one word it would be, CELEBRATION. It was not only a celebration of what we had memorized (24 verses in 1 year) but also what God had done through us through those verses we memorized. At the end Beth asked us what the verses had gotten us through, and those stories bring you to tears. Jesus is faithful and the ultimate healer and is such a good God. Despite all the heartache some of my sisters and I endured in 2013, God used those verses to help us overcome and to declare his promises and blessings over our life in our hard times.
Travis Cottrell lead us in worship and let me tell you, he is an anointed man of God, if you haven’t heard his music, I highly encourage you to download it, you will be blessed indeed. After that, we dug heart first into the word with Mrs. Beth Moore herself. Considering we were all joining together to celebrate our ability to remember recite our MEMORY scriptures, she made an acrostic out of the word Memory.
Memory is an inestimable gift.
Erasing memories may seem the goal, but reframing is what heals the mind.
Memory is the driving force of all relationships.
Ordered thoughts are more accurately remembered.
Remember is to revival what forgetting is to rebellion.
You have the power to put good into other people’s memories.
How powerful is the “Y”? YOU (ME; EVERYONE) has the POWER to put good into other people’s memories. How much truth is in that statement and how much truth can you declare over other people’s lives by putting good into their memories. How far a little bit of kindness goes.
Beth also encouraged us to put a date on our name tag. This date was something that was memorable for us. A good memory, it could be spiritual or anything else. We were encouraged to meet new people and ask them about their date. My date is January 3rd, 2013. If you would like to know my story, feel free to ask, I would be honored to share it with you.
Before Lunch I was able to personally thank this beautiful woman of God for what she did to me just a year ago during her talk at #Passion2013. I was in a rotten dirty place and the Lord used her among other speakers at that event to bring me from deep sin into a place where I felt home again. A place of healing, redemption and restoration. Having the opportunity to look her in the eyes and tell her what she did is something I will forever be grateful for. Describing this in one word, humbling.
We were able to take a picture with Beth Moore based on our seating in the room. This is the group I was blessed to be sitting with/near.
Beofre the last session, we got to enjoy lunch with our sisters and I was blessed to sit with these women. *You cannot see me, but I am here ;)* It was great to discuss our dates on our name tags and see how everyone came across the blog and made their way to the event. It was a wonderful time getting to know new sisters.
The ending session was spent with worship and then we all recited our verses at the same time. Can I just say this was by far one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced in my life. We spent the last year taking time memorizing these verses and here we are all TOGETHER getting to say them with our sisters in CHRIST. Describing this in word word, BEAUTIFUL.
After that Beth gave people the opportunity to speak out loud on what exactly these 24 verses had helped them get through. Breakups, Divorces, Stage 4 Breast Cancer were just four that I can remember off the top of my head. I was crying tears of pure joy with my sisters as we praised Jesus for his healing during the year 2013. It was inspiring to hear how this opportunity affect so many women in so many different places, so many different ways, and so many different locations.
At the end I exchanged contact information with some of the girls around me that I got to know so well (even in that short period of time). These are just three of the sisters that I was able to get to know really well. One of them is a Red Raider, can you believe it? And she loves Texas Tech Football, it was awesome meeting her through this. If any of you know me, you know that I am PASSIONATE about Red Raider Football.
Overall, this experience was one of a lifetime and I cannot wait for 2015 to begin memorizing again and 2016 to meet with my sisters in Houston and catch up. I know some of you that follow my blog are doing my #LoveWhatIsTrue scripture memory and when 2015 comes around (it will be here before we know it), I HIGHLY encourage you to join in with Beth Moore and all these wonderful sisters of mine.
For those of you that read my post about my “Prayer Acrostic” TRUTH, I am going to use the verses that I chose for each word to use as part of my scripture memory. This month, I am going do the word “Humility”.
Amanda Porter. San Marcos, Texas. “Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” -Philippians 2:2-4 (ESV)-
In order for me to speak truth over those around me, I have to be able to be humble about it. In the end it isn’t about me, it’s about Jesus. Jesus has commanded us to love people just like he has and to think of them before us, this verses speaks of that. My prayer as I memorize this verse, is that I would be less focused on myself and more focused on others around me, those I know and those I don’t.
